Achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Measure, report, and act on driver impact

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) define international focus areas and goals for sustainable development to be pursued by 2030. At Greater Than, our solutions help your organization to achieve several of the goals. By converting GPS data into valuable crash probability and climate impact scores, your business benefits from insights to facilitate Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) reporting, enhance transparency and take action for a safer, more sustainable world.

The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The 17 SDGs are at the core of the Agenda and comprise an urgent call for action from all countries.

The goals, which in total incorporate 169 separate targets, are interdependent and interlinked, with targets in many goals going hand-in-hand with others.

As a company that empowers owners of GPS data with valuable driver safety and sustainability insights, we’re passionate about supporting action for safe, sustainable mobility.

Below are the SDG goals and specific targets our products and services help your organization to achieve:

SDG 3: Good health and well-being

Target 3.6 Halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents

At Greater Than, we advocate increased awareness of safer driving habits. In our daily operations, we encourage and support your company to take ownership of driver safety.

Our AI technology converts GPS data into a Crash Probability Score, which can be utilized to predict and prevent traffic crashes. Our solutions also help your organization to incentivize safer driving habits, strengthening awareness of driving behavior both at the organizational and individual level.

SDG 5: Gender equality

Target 5.1 End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere

Greater Than’s technology helps to eliminate gender discrimination, particularly within motor insurance. Because our AI identifies crash probability and climate impact through real-time GPS data analysis, not predetermined risk proxies, it encourages unbiased, transparent assessment and pricing of driver risk based on performance, not gender.

SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities

Target 11.2 By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible, and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety

We are passionate about promoting, facilitating, and supporting the future growth of sustainable cities and mobility. Our products enable the development of innovative mobility solutions; for example pay-as-you-go, pay-how-you-drive and shared transport solutions, contributing to a more sustainable future.

Our technology is used by car-leasing companies, for example, who use our technology to understand driver risk and climate impact. This enables them to set prices according to risk level and incentivize safer, cleaner driving behaviors.

SDG 12: Sustainable consumption and production

Target 12.2 By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources

Our cloud-based, SaaS, digital solutions require no additional in-vehicle hardware. The process is simple: we convert your customers’ existing GPS data into valuable insights that we deliver back to you digitally, in a management dashboard or via your own solution. You can use these insights to help your clients reduce their driving impact and promote safer, more sustainable travel.

Target 12.6 Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle

Our solutions proactively help your company and your clients to reduce their carbon and societal footprint. By uncovering crash probability and climate impact insights, we facilitate comprehensive sustainability and ESG reporting to meet regulations such as Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).

How it works:

  • Our Climate Impact Score measures a driver’s impact on CO2 emissions and provides quality data suitable for Scope 1 2 and 3 GHG emissions reporting
  • Our Crash Probability Score measures a driver’s crash probability, enabling you to report on road safety performance as part of the ‘Social’ element of ESG reporting

SDG 13: Climate action

Target 13.3 Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning

Education forms a large part of Greater Than’s solutions. By enabling better understanding of safety and climate impact, and encouraging drivers to take ownership of their behaviors, our products incentivize driving that is kinder to the environment.

The FIA Smart Driving Challenge, in partnership with the FIA, is a great example of this. The global challenge invites drivers to connect their cars to the FIA SDC app to see how safe and eco-friendly their driving is. The app uses gamification features and in-app feedback to encourage drivers to improve their score and climb the app leader board.

Building sustainability into your existing activities

It’s easy to start uncovering crash probability and climate impact insights from your existing GPS data to help your organization achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. All we need is 1km of driving data, which can be shared with us via a smartphone app, SDK in an existing app or API from dashcam, connected car, telematics device, or other system.

If you’d like to chat with us about how Greater Than can help your organization – and your clients – works towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, please contact us or book a meeting.
